TUCKER, Ga. (AP) – Police have released the identity of the police officer who was shot and wounded at a gas station in suburban Atlanta.

DeKalb County Police Capt. Stephen Fore said Saturday that 47-year-old Marco Vizcarrando was shot in the upper left shoulder in a shootout with two suspects. The 19-year veteran officer was treated and released from Grady Hospital late Friday.

Fore says 21-year-old Rome Crow and 24-year-old Isiah McCray face charges of aggravated assault on a police officer and felony obstruction.

DeKalb County public safety director Cedric Alexander said the suspects’ vehicle crashed into a wall in front of the gas station after the officer tried to pull it over. Crow and McCray then jumped out of the vehicle and ran. The officer chased them before gunshots were fired.
