HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) – A Pennsylvania judge is turning down Jerry Sandusky’s request for information about a grand jury that investigated him before charges were filed in 2011.
Judge John Cleland issued the order Thursday, hours after he conducted a closed-door hearing to question the state’s attorney general about what she might know about contacts between the grand jury’s supervisory judge and prosecutors.
Cleland says Attorney General Kathleen Kane told him she has no knowledge of any efforts by Judge Barry Feudale or state prosecutors to leak secret grand jury material about Sandusky.
Sandusky is a former Penn State assistant football coach currently appealing a 45-count conviction for child sexual abuse.
Cleland’s order says Sandusky’s lawyer can still make a similar request for information to Norman Krumenacker, the judge who currently oversees the grand jury.
