SCOTTSVILLE, Ky. (WTVF) – The search for a suspect in the brutal abduction and killing of a young child has an entire Kentucky community on edge.
Now, the parents of the 7-year-old girl found dead at a youth football game are making an emotional plea for justice.
Investigators say Gabbi Doolin was cheering at her older brother’s game at Scottsville High School on Saturday. Her mom, Amy Doolin, says she went to the bathroom with friends and never came back.
The girl’s body was found near a pond less than 100 yards from the football field.
“I never thought anything like this would happen to my baby, never in a million years. I thought she was safe because every time we had been there she knew I told her where she could go and where she couldn’t go, never to go outside the fence,” Doolin said.
Gabbi’s father, who was announcing plays at the game, immediately started calling for the girl over loudspeakers. Her mother and the crowd also began frantically searching.
Gabbi was found just 30-minutes after she disappeared.
Kentucky state police aren’t releasing details in the investigation, but confirmed her death was a homicide.
Gabbi would’ve turned 8 the day after Christmas.
