RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) – A truck with 2,600 piglets overturned on a wet, messy morning on the Raleigh Beltline Tuesday, leading to a chaotic scene with hundreds of squealing pigs and hundreds of irate motorists trapped in traffic.

Animal control officers and Raleigh Police were on the scene after the tractor trailer truck fell on its side and smashed against a guard rail.
Police said the truck was traveling to Iowa from Johnston County.
Some of the pigs were “seriously injured,” authorities said.
The crash closed two lanes of I-40 west between South Saunders Street and Lake Wheeler Road and it took two hours to upright the truck.
