ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – It has been an amazing holiday season for little Sa’fyre Terry.

The Schenectady arson survivor asked for Christmas cards to fill her card tree, and the world responded with nearly half a million. She has received cards from all over the world, including the White House.

Terry, who is the sole survivor of a 2013 fire that claimed the life of her father and siblings, received the greatest gift of all on Tuesday. She was given a new 3-D printed hand designed by students at the University at Albany.

On the Facebook page for Sa’fyre, a video was shared of her learning to use the new hand.

According to the post, she adjusted to it quickly, picking up a cup with it only an hour after wearing it.

The post states there are some adjustments that need to be made to the first generation hand, but she is expected to have it back in a few days.
