JACKSONVILLE, FL (WFLA) — A group of Jacksonville fishermen unexpectedly encountered a great white shark off of the coast during a fishing charter for red snapper this week.

Captain Chard Starling of Team Buck Rogers captured a video of the shark on Saturday, December 26th off the coast of Jacksonville Beach. They say the shark was about 12-feet-long and hungry. The shark circled around the charter boat and chomped on a fish they were catching.

According to Jacksonville Fishing Charters Facebook page, the group was not fishing for sharks; they were bottom fishing for red snapper, which was all released due to the current federal closure.
