PHILADELPHIA (AP) – A homeless man sought in the slaying of a shelter employee and wounding of another has surrendered to police in Philadelphia.
Officer Tanya Little says charges are pending against 32-year-old John Brock.
Police say they had taken Brock to a hospital Saturday for a mental health evaluation after he was thrown out of the shelter for being intoxicated, only to have him return Sunday and shoot two workers.
They say he killed 43-year-old Edward Barksdale and shot 26-year-old Lamond Barham in the hip. Officials say Barham is in stable condition Monday.
It’s unclear if Brock has a lawyer who could speak on his behalf.
Officials are urging the city’s homeless Monday to continue to seek out shelter given frigid temperatures.
