PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Detectives have charged a man after they say he used a fake pipe bomb to rob a Portland, Oregon convenience store of beer and ice cream.
Theodore Compton is charged with one count each of second-degree robbery and unlawful possession of a hoax destructive device.
Portland Police were initially dispatched around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday to the Plaid Pantry on Southeast 122nd on reports of a robbery.
Police say Compton entered the store with a device that looked like a pipe bomb. He fled the store with ice cream snacks and a six pack.
There were no injuries and police determined the so-called pipe bomb Compton had was fake.
