SCOTT COUNTY, VA (WJHL)- A driver of a FedEx truck escaped without injuries after the delivery truck was swept into a creek Wednesday afternoon.

According to the Weber City Fire Department Assistant Chief, Bo Person, the driver thought it was safe enough to cross a low water bridge along Cameron Church Road, but the water swept the truck into the creek.

Duffield Fire and Rescue along with Virginia State Police, and the Scott County Sheriff’s Office were called to the scene shortly after 1pm.

Weber City firefighters said there there is a road closed sign along Cameron Church Road near the Stanley Valley cutoff.

They urged residents driving around the area to use caution and if they see high waters to turn around rather than trying to make it across the roadway.
