Wild ride ends with crash for Florida girl, 13, accused of stealing minivan

PINELLAS PARK, Fla. (WFLA) — A 13-year-old Pasco County girl is charged with felony grand theft auto after investigators say she stole a minivan and went on a wild ride, refusing to stop for police before crashing into a brick wall.

Jade Miller, 13, was charged with felony grand theft auto and leaving the scene of a crash.

Investigators say at 11 p.m. on Wednesday, a Pinellas Park Police Department officer saw a tan Honda Odyssey driving recklessly in the 6300 block of 82nd Avenue.

As the officer was attempting to catch up to the minivan which was driving westbound, the driver ran the red light at the intersection 82nd Avenue at 66th Street. As the officer activated his emergency equipment, the driver of the minivan shut off all of the vehicle lights and continued westbound on 82nd Avenue.

The vehicle crossed over Belcher Road and continued driving westbound on 82nd Avenue, which is a dead end road.

As the officer approached the area of 82 Avenue and 73rd Court he saw that the minivan had crashed into a brick wall outside of a neighborhood and ended up in the yard of a residence located at 8200 73rd Court.

Police found MIller in a neighborhood north of the crash scene. Investigators say the minivan was reported stolen out of Pasco County.

Miller was charged with grand theft auto and leaving the scene of a crash.
