CINCINNATI (AP) – Authorities say a southwest Ohio woman has been arrested after falsely reporting that her infant daughter was abducted when someone stole her car.
The Enquirer reports that Cincinnati police are uncertain why the 28-year-old woman lied Thursday about her 18-day-old daughter being abducted when her car was stolen, a report that triggered a frantic, three-hour search. A Cincinnati police lieutenant told reporters Thursday afternoon that the woman left home in a taxi during the morning search, picked up the baby at a friend’s house and returned home.
Police found the child with her mother around 9:30 a.m. Two juveniles have been arrested in connection with the woman’s stolen car.
Hamilton County has custody of the infant and the woman’s other two children, ages 5 and 7.
