HOUSTON, Texas (CNN/KPRC/KTRK) – A main traffic artery in Houston was clogged by a sight that could give someone a heart attack.
A naked woman on top of a truck forced the shutdown of westbound 290 in Houston.
The Sheriff’s Department said the woman had already caused a couple of hit-and-run fender benders when she pulled over.
“She got out of her car and was going towards the 18-wheeler. All of a sudden, she started throwing her clothes at the traffic, the oncoming traffic,” said witness Darlene Knebel.
The woman somehow climbed up on the truck and stayed there for more than two hours, as rescuers tried to figure out how to get her down without causing her to fall and hurt herself.
She waved her arms and laid back as if sunbathing, even mooned onlookers as news choppers circled overhead.
Authorities attributed her behavior to a psychiatric issue, possibly drugs, or both.
“She was talking about all sorts of things — Wall Street, the CIA, aliens, all types of things,” said Thomas Gilliland, of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
Finally, buckets from two ladder trucks converged on the woman and managed to grab her.
No charges have been filed against the woman at this time. Family members told affiliate KTRK that the woman has mental health issues and is getting treatment.
