HESSTON, Kansas (KSN) – Excel Industries will reopen its doors for workers and their families Wednesday for a tour of the facility before the company heads back to business Thursday and Friday. Workers are also welcome to bring clergy members.

The come-and-go event will last from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Employees must enter through the north parking lot and come in through the overhead doors on the east side of plant four. Employees will also be required to show a badge or photo ID.

The company has been closed since Feb. 26 after a gunman took the lives of three workers the day before. Several others were wounded in the attack. Police shot and killed the suspected shooter inside Excel Industries. Following the attack, EMPAC set up a hotline offering help to employees.

Workers have been allowed inside to gather their belongings left behind in the chaos of the attack, but so far the factory has not reopened. The company will return to normal 10-hour shifts March 10 and 11, 2016.
