DENVER, Colorado (KDVR) — A portion of Denver International Airport was evacuated for several hours Tuesday afternoon due to a possible security threat.
Airport officials said the Denver Police bomb squad was called in to investigate “several suspicious items” after a K9 alerted to a possible threat in the west terminal around 2:30 p.m.
Around 4:45 p.m., airport officials said police had cleared the items and no threat was found. The west terminal has been reopened to the public.
The Level 5 baggage claim and several airline ticket counters were closed during the evacuation, and no vehicle traffic was allowed on the west side of the terminal.
Operations at the airport have now returned to normal.
