SCOTIA, N.Y. (NEWS10) – Whenever a presidential candidate makes a campaign stop, there’s no shortage of controversy.
Tickets for the Ted Cruz town hall ran out in less than a day, so there were hundreds of his supporters in Scotia on Thursday. But there was also a handful of protesters.
As presidential hopeful Ted Cruz left the town hall, he paused for a few moments to sign autographs and pose for pictures with supporters. But there were a few protesters in the crowd holding signs trying to make their opinions heard.
Among them was one woman, Brigid Meyer, who lives right down the street fromMekeel Christian Academy where Cruz spoke. She wasn’t happy when she learned he was coming to her neighborhood.
“I have to tell you I was so angry I couldn’t even see straight,” she said. “I love our cops. I love our police. I thank them every time I see them, especially the Scotia ones. But I really resent having my tax dollars spent to protect him or Trump.”
