(CNN) – Federal agencies are warning about the possibility of an attack this weekend. There is no specific threat.

Patrolling boats, New York police keep an eye on the water where many people will be for a better view of the fireworks Saturday night.

“It’s the Fourth of July. We’re a big target, you know, New York City. They want to make the biggest splash here. We just got to make sure that they don’t,” said Sgt. George Puhlovsky, New Jersey State Highway Patrol.

The New York Police Department’s security and counterterrorism measures will be even tighter this year than they have been in the past.

Federal agencies issued a bulletin last Friday, warning of terrorist threats, including calls from ISIS for supports in the United States to carry out attacks. However, officials say there is no specific, credible threat.

“Our operating premise is that we are the target in New York City all the time, so the information that is out there is for awareness purposes and for people to go about their lives, enjoy the holiday weekend,” said James Waters, NYPD chief of counterterrorism.

Across the country, security teams are sweeping areas where large crowds are expected to gather for the Independence Day celebrations. .

“As we go into the Fourth of July, people need to be aware of their surroundings. They need to bring things to the attention of authorities if they see something that does not make sense,” said Rep. Mike Turner, House Armed Serviced Committee.

But as officials caution awareness and implement more security measure, they are telling the public to go out and enjoy the holiday.
