ARLINGTON, Va. (CNN) – The lunch crowd at Peter Chang in Arlington was waiting for the doors to open at 11:30. The Chinese cuisine has a reputation for repeat customers.
“The food is always good, it’s different. The spice is great,” said Steve Slye, a customer.
Spicy food and this weekend there was a spicy receipt, according to a customer that e-mailed ARLnow.com.
Peter Chang has responded in a letter, apologizing. The receipt, which has been blurred, has two extra lines that says, “im a plad [sic]” and “i have a small [sic].”
We’re told Chang speaks very little English, but the co-founder of the seven restaurants gave us an interview through FaceTime.
When asked if he had employees describe customers on receipts, Gen Lee said, “never, they were supposed to never be capable to do it. I was so shocked.”
Lee translated a letter for Chang. In it, he describes he is firing four people, including his daughter, a manager, who wasn’t at the restaurant Saturday night.
“According to the assistant manager, they say they’ve been doing this,” Lee said.
Chang says he will have consultants help to improve the management at the Arlington location.
“They could have put something nice. They could have said well I’m sorry you were disappointed, but we enjoyed working with you today or we enjoyed serving you today,” said Michael Zuiker, a customer.
We have learned Peter Chang is offering 10% off a bill for customers who show proof of a news article that references the receipt.
