COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) – Democrats say Vice President Joe Biden’s Wednesday visit to Ohio was about the economy, but Republicans suggest the stop in a key battleground state was political.

Biden joined Labor Secretary Thomas Perez and Sen. Sherrod Brown at Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams to announce a new overtime rule.

Ohio Republican Chairman Matt Borges told reporters ahead of Biden’s appearance that the vice president came to Ohio to help Hillary Clinton win the state this November. Borges says Democrats are “worried about the top of the ticket” and “doing everything they can to prop her up and boost her up.”

But Brown told reporters after Biden spoke that Ohio was selected because his office has fought for the middle class and helped over the past year to craft the new rule.
