(WKRG) – Thousands of people came out to watch the return of fallen Blue Angel Jeff Kuss Tuesday Afternoon.

Kuss’ remains were aboard Fat Albert, the Angels C130 transport plane, coming back from Dover Air Force Base in Delaware.

Kuss was killed last week when his Number 6 jet crashed in Smyrna Tennessee.

People watched at three locations around Pensacola; Palafox St, Pensacola Beach and Perdido Key.

“He is a modern day hero and we need to support the Blues and let them know that we care,” said Linda Stratmann.

Two memorial services are planned for this week in honor of Kuss. One is a private event at the NAS chapel. Then the public is invited to come out 7:30 Thursday evening for a service at Veterans Memorial Park.

At a later date, Kuss’s remains are expected to be transported to his hometown of Durango Colorado.
