YOUNGTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – The makers of Nature Made products is recalling several vitamin products due to possible salmonella contamination.
Pharmative LLC is initiating the voluntary recall and is advising all retailers to remove the products from their shelves immediately.
ALL RECALLED PRODUCTS AND LOT NUMBERS
According to the FDA, the recall was initiated after it was discovered that Salmonella and/or Staphylococcus aureus testing were not completed properly on these specific batch lots. Pharmavite has identified the cause of the error, is taking the matter very seriously and has implemented corrective actions to rectify the issue.
The lot number can be found on the back panel next to the expiration date. Products that fall within the lots indicated should not be consumed. Consumers are encouraged to return the affected products to their retailer for a full refund. Symptoms of salmonella illness, including diarrhea, fever and abdominal cramps, may begin 12 to 72 hours after a person is exposed to the bacteria. Illness can last four to seven days and most people recover on their own. Salmonella causes an estimated 1 million cases of illness every year in the United States.
