SAN RAMON (KRON) — A 3-year-old girl died after a dental procedure at a San Ramon dentist on Saturday, according to her family.
Emergency crews were called to Dentalbliss when the toddler, Marvelena Rady, had some type of complication during the unidentified procedure.
The toddler was taken to San Ramon Valley Regional Center where she was pronounced dead.
The father tells KRON4 News that the family is devastated and overwhelmed with grief.
At this time, it is unclear what happened.
The dentist has been identified as Dr. Cheri Dang.
KRON4 News is reaching out to the dentist for more information.
The cause of death of 14-month-old Daisy Lynn Torres, who died on March 29 at a Northwest Austin, Texas dental office, has been determined to be the result of anesthesia administered for the treatment of tooth decay.
The results of an autopsy couldn’t definitively say if there was anything else that contributed to her death.
Betty Squier, the girl’s mother, said the dental office told her that there were more problems with her daughter’s teeth than expected; she had six cavities, four more than they thought she had.
Squier said the dental staff at Austin Children’s Dentistry, located on Hymeadow Drive, told her they sedated young patients all the time and that it was nothing to worry about.
Squier said in a previous report that she was nervous to sedate her daughter.
“They started right away with her and it wasn’t long until they called me back there saying there were complications,” her mother said.
