YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – After a major tech meltdown Wednesday, Southwest Airlines says it has fixed computer problems that caused hundreds of flights to be canceled, but it is telling passengers to get to the airport early because there could be long lines.
The glitch forced the airline to cancel hundreds of flights, and passengers flying Thursday are being told to check their flight status and arrive at the airport early.
In a statement, the airline says it began experiencing intermittent performance problems with several technology systems Wednesday afternoon and was gradually restoring repairing them through the early morning hours of Thursday.
Some passengers who’ve already rebooked say they can’t even get on a plane for Thursday.
Southwest took to social media in a Twitter video saying they know they’ve disappointed customers and that it’s not acceptable
Southwest says in a statement that most systems are back online.
