CESENA, Italy (MEDIA GENERAL) – Attention, Dave Grohl. A few fans want your attention.
A team, dubbed Rockin’ 1,000, filmed a unique viral video with hopes of wooing the Foo Fighters to their corner of Italy. More than 1,000 musicians, comprised of drummers, guitarists, bassists and singers gathered together to perform one of the band’s biggest hits “Learn to Fly.”
“The Foo Fighters (have not played) in Romagna since 1997. It’s time to get them back, but we need a crazy idea,” the Rockin’ 1,000’s web site says.
The video was posted to YouTube on Thursday, July 30, 2015. It already has received more than 4 million views.
“I guess this video is going to be seen by a huge, huge amount of people from all over the world,” event organizer Fabio Zaffagnini said in the video. “But, to be true, it is being conceived to be addressed to five people. So, Chris, Pat, Nate, Taylor and Dave Grohl, the Foo Fighters. You know, Italy is a country where dreams cannot easily come true, but it is a land of passion and creativity.”
It appears the video worked. Late Thursday, the Foo Fighters’ Facebook account shared the video with an attached message: “Ci vediamo a presto, Cesena.”
In English, “See you soon, Cesena.”
