(CNN) – The Kraft Heinz Company is recalling 36-thousand cases of individually wrapped cheese singles because they may present a choking hazard.

The voluntary recall involves the three-pound and four pound boxes of Kraft singles American and white American pasteurized cheese.

The affected products have a ‘best when used by’ date of between December 29, 2015 and January 4, 2016, followed by the manufacturing codes “s54″ or “s55.”

Kraft says a thin strip of the packaging film could remain adhered to the cheese slice even after the wrapper has been removed.

The company said it has received at least ten complaints about the packaging, including three reports of choking.

The affected packages were distributed to the United States, Puerto Rico and Grand Cayman.

Kraft says anyone with a package included in the recall should return it to the store for an exchange or a refund.
