(WTNH)  Seven-year-old text messages sent by former Subway spokesperson Jared Fogle are the latest developments in the scandal that ended the longtime pitchman’s relationship with the restaurant chain.

According to Business Insider, the FBI has subpoenaed an affidavit in which Fogle allegedly admits in text messages to paying for sex with a 16-year-old girl.  The texts are between Fogle and a former Subway franchisee.  That franchisee says it reported the exchange to Subway’s corporate office, which claims it has no record of the report (in Indiana, where Fogle lives, 16 is the age of consent).

The 2008 texts include other allegedly lewd mentions by Fogle, including encouraging a woman with whom he was in a relationship to advertise herself for sex with other men on Craigslist, and asking the woman to bring up having a threesome with her cousin, who was underage at the time.  Also in the messages, Fogle said he had paid $100 to have sex with a 16-year-old.

A month ago, Fogle’s Indiana home was raided by federal and state authorities, in connection with a child pornography case against a former employee of his charity foundation.  Since then, Subway has cut all ties with Fogle, who became their spokesman after losing 200-lbs eating Subway sandwiches.  Fogle has not been charged with any crimes.
